O.O.P.S. Golf League Rules
The League Members are "Old" "Obnoxious" and "Poor" "Sports"

This is the boring page but it has to be printed!

OOPS League play is governed by USGA  Rules, if you don't know them then lie to your opposing team!
Scoring is done by using a 21 point scale per nine holes. You are assigned an opponent each week and 2 opponent teams make up a foursome.
You play each hole with your opponent. 2 points are awarded for each lowest scored hole or split a tie, and lowest net score receives the final 3 points. Your score vs your opponents score  less the  handicap will dictate who won the hole.( WOW, That was a mouthful!)

Please, Be On Time to Tee Off!!!

League Rules

The league is broken up into 2 divisions
Div A
Scot        7
OBG        8
Gregg      9
John        6
Todd        8
Rick        8
Don        8
Tom        10

Div B
Brian     18
Chris      14
Carl        14
Henry    15
Bill K       14
Jim         15
Spence    25
Bill R        29

Weeks 1-7

Stroke Play 2 tiers

Handicaps 0-10 in 1st flight, 11 and up in 2nd flight. Each flight will be broke up into 8 players, a random number will be assigned to each player and a round robin format will be applied. Each player will play everybody once. A foursome will be a match from Flight 1 and a match from flight 2

Scoring for these rounds will be, 2 points per hole and 3 points for low score, for a total of 21 points. In the event of a tie (i.e splits on the 9 holes and equal net scores) a score added from holes 1,3,5,7,9 will be used, if still tied, then 2,4,6,8. If still tied, well, we’ll have to talk about that. Handicaps will be used

The first 7 weeks will create a bracket ( the person with the most points will be ranked highest , the least lowest, ties will be broken with win/loss record) in each respective flight and will begin a tournament that will run 4 weeks  In week 1 Player ranked #1 in each flight will play #2. 3 vs 4, 5 vs6, etcThe winner of the each matchup will face eachother in weeks 2 and 3, as will the losers. I will have a bracket chart updated each week so you can see the prior weeks results. On week 4 the 2 tiers will play against eachother according to what position they now hold and this will establish how each person places from 1st-16th and how much money they will have won

You play each person in your division one time head to head with handicaps Points will count as they always have, a tiebreaker will be needed so after 7 weeks there will be a 1-8(div A) and a 1-8(div B) placement
(Imagine the above divisions are 1st -8th place after 7 weeks)
This is the brackets for the playoffs
So week one Scot would play OBG
Gregg vs John etc...
for Div A
Same setup for Div B
Brian vs Chris
Carl vs Henry

The winners of the1st round  would match up in week 2 as would the losers
This would repeat one more week and after 3 weeks a 1st -8th place would once again be established (this gives everyone 2 chances to win the league)
On week 4 the first place player from Div A would play the 1st place player from Div B. Winner would take 1st place for the season, loser 2nd place
2nd place Div A vs 2nd Place Div B would play for 3rd and 4th place
And on down the line
In essence you could come in last place in the head to head divisional contest and still win 1st place during the 4 week Tournament.
Cost would be 51.00 for the Tournament
Winnings would be
1    123.00
2    100.00
3    80.00
4    70.00
5    60.00
6    55.00
7    50.00
8    45.00
9    40.00
10    35.00
11    30.00
12    26.00
13    25.00
14    25.00
15    25.00
16    25.00

That would be the first 11 weeks

For the final 6 weeks Ryder Cup, we would nominate a captain from each division. All remaining players names would be put into a hat still associated with their division. A coin would be tossed by the 2 captains to determine who picks first. The Div B Captain would pick 1st from the Div A pool and the Div A captain would pick from the Div B pool. Next round Div B would pick Div B and A would pick A. This would alternate until all names were picked and 2 Ryder Cup teams would be formed. (USA and Europe) The Captains would then decide who on their team will go up against the other teams choices:
Games would be
Team Matchplay     4 Possible Points
2 Man Scramble      4 Possible Points (formally Alternate Shot but Gregg didn't like that....)Alternate could be 2-Man Chapman (See Below**)
Head to Head Strokeplay     8 Possible Points
These will be 18 hole events so week ones partners would meet up again in week 2 to finish the event (an example Gregg and Brian(Team USA) are Paired up with Biil K and Tom(Team Europe), your down 3 points after nine, the following week you have a chance to storm back and win all holes but one winning the Matchplay event for you team by 1)
Same with the other 2 events

Special Rules for Scramble

Handicaps for this format are arrived at by adding the two partners individual handicap's together then dividing by 3 and rounding to the next whole number i.e Rick 4 and Don 7 is 11/3 = 3.666 rounded up to 4

Brian 14 and and Todd 8 is 22 = 7.333 is rounded down to 7

If a partner is a no show for one or both of the weeks during the scramble format then the player present will double his own handicap and divide by 3 (i.e. Bill K 13 x 2 = 26/3= 8.666 rounded up to 9) to get his format handicap and will play as a 1 man scramble (Hit two shots)
No additional strokes will be added to the scores as in Matchplay

**Rules for Chapman Format:

"Chapman System" is the name of a 2-person team competition format for golfers that works like this:

Missing Player scoring format

0-7 handicap........... 3 points

8-14 handicap......... 5 points

15-18 ....................... 7 points

18+........................ 10 points

This will be added to your handicap and distributed through 9 holes of golf for your score.

All forms of gambling are STRONGLY encouraged
